Sydney – Day 3
You can see it in the eyes of others, the tiredness is starting to set in at ALIA.
That said day three started with a popular talk from a futurist offering 6-7 keys areas librarians and the IT related scene should consider for the future in regards to their service delivery.
When I get home I will try and post some of these ideas up but a lack of easy access to the net via my own laptop precludes me from doing so right now.
Locals say it’s getting hot - the max temp is around 35-36 degrees today.
Living in an aircon hotel room and attending an aircon conference you would be forgiven for thinking such temps even existed.
The sharp reminder comes when you walk between the two venues at the start and end of each day.
Organisers did announce yesterday that wifi access could be made available to attendees for a fee of $160 or there abouts for a full 3 days access.
I have opted not to take this but remain frustrated that I can’t easily access the Internet via my laptop and that exhibitors who have access as part of their deal can twitter and blog live from the various featured talks.
My firm hope is to be able to return to this event in 2 years and not be so restricted in my attempts to help promote it.
Time is ticking fast and within 24 hours I will be back in New Zealand gearing up for the start of a new working week.
Like all Monday mornings they come around predictably fast!
