Branding & Design
Currently I’m doing an assignment for my product and branding marketing paper, part of which involves creating the packaging and some design work for that.
The lectures have been very interesting and something as basic as toilet cleaner (toilet duck) has been deconstructed to examine the role and key function that design plays in the purchase/decision making process.
Case in point today we were doing our weekly grocery shop and had to buy some of this stuff.
The lady in my life says ‘oh we need toilet duck’ and picks up another branded product that is not toilet duck but one with a very similar packaging design and on the shelves for around a third of the cost of the well marketed product.
Just goes to show how one vendor can leverage from another in the fickle world of FMCG design.
