Zannel may be a web 2 service that is worth a look at.

Some have described it as Twitter on steroids – not sure about that but it does offer picture and video export to Twitter & Flickr plus a bunch of hooks in to Facebook, WordPress and Fire Eagle…a bit more than good ol’ Twitter.

The downside is the hassle to (again) set up a network of friends to ‘zannel’ to.

A quick search of users from New Zealand returned over 2000 hits but many have yet to post much using their Zannel accounts and those that had seemed to have done so many months ag0 – not a good look.

Time will tell if this platform can secure the gravitis required to push it to near the top of the category it would so desperately like to own.
