Bit.ly
This is a great service and well worth setting up your own account with them.
Why?
Simple with Bit.ly you get far more user data about how your referred links are performing that you ever did using the (old de facto standard) Tinyurl url shortener service.
Take this post for example. I will post a link to Twitter using Bit.ly to shorten the url and then provide you with a follow-up to this story to show you the type of data you can get.
It’s been a fascinating insight to use this service to discover who reads my content, where they come from and if the stuff I’m producing is of value / interest to anyone. That said, if my ramblings are not driving huge hits to the site I’m loosing sleep over it!
So, if you would like to help please refer this post on to a few mates and lets see in 3-5 days time who read it and from which part of the world they came from.
The short Bit.ly url for this post is http://bit.ly/l3aCf
