Lianza – Day 2
A continuation of the buzz from yesterday pervades the mood of delegates in attendance at the second day of the Lianza 2009 conference.
Today I have taken a slightly less ‘online intensive’ approach to my blogging, twittering etc.
This was driven in part by my involvement as a speaker at one of the break-out sessions this morning and also by my desire to sample the conference in a variety of ways – if you’re always in front of the keyboard it’s not so easy to notice some of the simple things going on around you.
It’s been a shorter day with less public break-out sessions scheduled but it’s meant that the quality of the subject matter being discussed has been kept to a high standard.
A Lianza conference is certainly a ‘thinking persons conference’ and demands you attend with both your brain in gear and a desire to be provoked and challenged in ones thinking – this is a good thing.
The latter part of my day involved attending a session entitled ‘developing and sharing creative solutions’.
This was run using an interactive ‘un-conference’ format allowing those who came along to mix and mingle with others and freely jump between several smaller discussions taking place in the large Christchurch Town Hall conference room.
On the back of this session Lianza has launched a Ning platform and you will soon find the results from our session up online there.
Tonight brings the opportunity for delegates to sample the much vaunted ‘SOL Square Evening’ in which folks have the individual choice as to where they wish to meet, dine and socialise using a pre-paid card for food etc.
Tomorrow as the conference draws to a close I will present a session covering the implementation of web 2.0 services for Dunedin Public Libraries that I have overseen.
I’m looking forward to the chance to share some thoughts and ideas about this work but even more so look forward to the questions that will head my way when I finish!
