IPv6 Urgency
I recall attending a IPENZ professional development talk about 6-9 months ago in Dunedin in which the subject of the rapid decline ofavaliable IPv4 addresses was aired.
Next year is crunch time (see counter above) and based on the estimate of a million new devices connecting to the Internet each week – you’d better believe it.
Great to hear of the work being done in New Zealand to prepare for IPv6 with the formation of a new task force and the involvement of some key players in the industry.
I for one am following developments closely as one of the key cornerstone network layer protocols of the Internet nears a significant milestone in its development.
Here’s hoping hardware vendors have heard the siren.
