Getting Started
It was a smooth flight up to LIANZA Conference 2011 this morning – two hops – Dunedin to Christchurch and then onto Wellington.
I found myself hoping there would be no earthquakes as I waited for my second flight of the morning in Christchurch, sorry team CHCH but I think I’m not alone in thinking this now each time I land.
So onto Wellington where it’s a sunny, mild morning with a temp in the low to mid teens.
You could tell there are a bunch of us descending on this place today as it was a sea of nice haircuts and tidy semi formal dress-wear pouring off the flights from all around me.
I’m posting this from the first floor of the Michael Fowler Convention Centre – a lovely venue that’s been transformed in to a space for vendors and delegates to mix and mingle. Wifi is free and easy to access.
Not far from me the Internet cafe is being set up, the SAGE man is deciding how to mount his impressive looking poster and a group of women who look like they are on the official team (all dressed in black) are all swapping stories of a GLAM nature in the pre conference build up. In the distance I can hear the sound of someone hard at work on the vacuum cleaner.
Power will be interesting, the main auditorium seems to have few power points for a bloke like me with my old school laptop (no iPad this year folks) but I have sussed 2-3 chairs nearby spots where I can tap into the national grid with.
So let the games begin we’re just under two hours from start time and I can’t wait.
