During the LIANZA Conference I received an email approach for publicity from Megan Blakie at the Book Discussion Scheme (BDS).
Turns out they are a non-profit based in Christchurch that specialises in book groups and lend out books and discussion notes to groups throughout New Zealand.
They have about 950 groups at the moment but would like to network with librarians and libraries as they feel many don’t know BDS exists.
Megan tells me “our point of difference is we lend books and discussion notes to participating groups, and deliver anywhere in New Zealand. We have an extensive catalogue of fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from, and monthly, bi-monthly and student programmes are available.”
I passed this information on to the team at LIANZA while attending conference but also offered to give the BDS a mention on my site.
At first glance they appear to have been around for several years and enjoy a loyal following only disrupted by the events of the Canterbury earthquakes over the past year.
Have you heard of the Book Discussion Scheme? Used them? Thoughts?
